5 Days of Christmas: Real Food Diet Cookbook {Review & Giveaway}

Today is the second day of the 5 days of Christmas Review & Giveaway Week!

On the 2nd day of Christmas, day2day joys gave to me…

An awesome giveaway… Dr. Axe’s Real Food Diet Cookbook. This book is great for a real food newbie or someone whose been eating real food for a while, there are tons of ideas. And you’ll learn a lot of information about food.
A little bit about the author: Josh Axe is a Wellness Physician and chiropractor like my husband. He is also a radio show host of Maximize Your Health in Nashville. Dr. Axe’s mother has battled cancer twice. The first time turning to traditional medical methods, the second time Dr. Axe knew he had to help his mom find an  natural alternative method, he did and she is now cancer free!  He is the founder of Exodus Health Center and has helped thousands of people.
Here are some sneak peaks of a couple pages in the cookbook:
I received this amazing cookbook to review and YOU will get a chance to win it!

Now for my review:
What I Liked: ( I found that all of the features are also what I like love about the book)
  1. Dr. Axe breaks down Real food vs. Fake food, his main tip is Don’t Count Calories, Count Nutrients
  2. Book has a “real food pyramid”– this is awesome because it shows healthy food with how much you need, very different than the traditional food pyramid we’re used to.
  3. The ABC’s explains food with a colorful array of foods and why or why they’re not they’re good for you. Very helpful for someone new to real food.
  4. There’s a food matching section that shows icons that are labeled on the recipes to know what to make when you’re feeling sick, low energy, quick recipes, post work out, etc.
  5. There are categories to choose from with several recipes in each including breakfast, drinks, salads, soups and stews, sauces and dressings, main dishes, side dishes, snacks, and desserts.
  6. All of the recipes are pretty simple and accompanied with beautiful pictures.
  7. There are 130 recipes that are made with wholesome ingredients.
What I didn’t Like:
  1. There isn’t a Table of Contents or index. This would be a nice feature so I could simply open to the page number for the recipe I wanted to find instead of flipping through
  2. The pages stuck together in certain areas. I don’t like this because you have to carefully pull them apart or the pages will rip
