5 Days of Christmas: Newman’s Own Organics {Review and Giveaway}

Today is the final day of the 5 days of Christmas Review & Giveaway Week!

On the 5th day of Christmas, day2day joys gave to me…

An awesome giveaway from Newman’s Own Organics. In the summer, Newman’s Own Organics sent me a box loaded with a variety of thier products. Over the next few months, we tried different things and really enjoyed the products. All of the products are Organic by Orgeon Tilth, and Newman’s Own Organics seek to provide their foods, fiber and herbal products of the highest quality in sufficient quantities.

A little bit Newman’s Own Organics:
Newman’s Own Organics was established as a division of Newman’s Own in 1993, and became a separate company in late 2001. Paul Newman has given over $200 million to thousands of charities worldwide since 1982.

If I am going to buy a processed food like crackers, pretzels, or sweets, I usually try to buy organic, and I especially try to buy the clean 15 fruits & veggies organically to reduce toxins. This is why I really enjoyed trying out these products, I knew they were safe ingredients with no added preservatives, artificial flavoring or colorings. However,  you still have to be mindful when eating them. Just because they are organic cookies, licorice or whatever, doesn’t mean that you can just eat them all and not notice in your weight.

Now for my review:

What I Liked:

  1. all of the products are certified organic
  2. short list of ingredients
  3. nice packaging with the familiar “Pa” Newman and Nell Newman
  4. most packages come with a short letter about the product from Nell Newman
  5. high quality ingredients are used
  6. products are very fresh and very tasty

What I didn’t Like:

  1. some of the products included corn syrup (which is just more sugar)
  2. a lot of the sweets are high in sugar just like traditional processed foods
My 4 Favorite Products:

Me oh my! That chocolate is the best chocolate I have ever tasted. The rich, sweet favor is to die for. Out if the 6 2.25 ounce bars my husband and I tried and ate in a few days both of our favorites was the Orange Dark Chocolate Bar. Not only are these bars USDA Organic, they are also Rainforest Alliance Certified, which means cocoa beans are are grown on farms held to high standards.
I loved the Chocolate Alphabet Cookies. I can remember the exact day I ate some. It was September 11th and I was watching a documentary about the 10 year anniversary. I think it’s neat how they include all letters of the alphabet although there is no guarantee you are going to get all of the letters. The were fresh tasting and very good. I honestly could not stop eating them and had to put the 7oz bag in the other room. Hey, they have 2g of protein per serving!
If you have been reading ingredients in food for any amount of time you’d agree with me that you can hardly find a gum or mint with out artificial flavorings or sweeteners. One of the main reasons I don’t buy mints or gum is that I can’t find any with good ingredients so I was pleasantly surprised to find the mints. My favorite is just the typical mint flavor: peppermint. Each package comes with four .70oz rolls.
All Newman's Own Organic Pretzels
Last but not least were the pretzels. I received the Spelt, Salted Sticks and the Honey Wheat pretzels. My favorite were the Spelt pretzels. These pretzels are specially made with yellow pea flour to add 5g of protein per serving. These pretzels are simply made with Organic spelt flour, spelt flour, organic sunflower oil, salt, yeast, and soda.

Newman’s Own Organic offers a variety of products from pretzels, dried fruits, mints, pet treats, coffee, olive oil and much more. They are great products for those people who are fast on the go, who can’t make everything homemade kinds of people.
