Understanding Health {Don’t just push Snooze on your Health Alarm Clock}

So right out the gates, we have to have answers for sick children and parents and a support system that can handle starting groups of patients not just only supporting individuals.

By being a clinic that teaches the 5 Essentials, we have answers for everyone to reverse their problems or even if there isn’t a health problem, we can take healthy people to a whole new level. That’s why we have partnered with the US Olympic team and professional and collegiate athletic teams all around the world. Today, I want to give you some vital information on how to recognize Health vs. Sickness. 

Number one is listening to your body.

If your body functions at 100% and you have no other health problems then you go down to the store and get some flavored potato chips, sour cream and onion or whatever flavor and you get a headache from the monosodium glutamate (MSG), is that a healthy headache or bad headache? Most people say bad headache.
I use an example in the clinic about my fire alarm going off. The question is this: If my fire alarm goes off right now, there is a fire in the back and the alarm goes off and everyone gets out then is that a good thing or a bad thing? ITS A GOOD THING! The fire is bad but the alarm is good because it saved your life. You don’t ignore the alarm or even worse just turn it off. 
 
So lets talk about this in regards to health, when people have a headache, most turn it off by covering it up with a medication. What about thirst though? You drink water for thirst not take a pill. The cause of thirst is dehydration so you get to the cause and drink water. Get to the cause of whatever the health problem is and correct the problem.
 
So if we look at a fever, I need a Tylenol versus, what is causing it, could be an infection, could be Gods way of healing your body. A fever of 102 kills cancer cells, so do you want to drop a fever if its killing cancer in your body?
 
You have to take responsibility for it but we don’t anymoreWe live in a country that takes that responsibility. We expect our insurance to take care of it, to take a med for it, we want a quick fix. That sums it up. So this is where we get the biggest problem. How do you know what health is? Old, young, doesn’t matter.
 
So if you have kids or if you have friends or spouses, people you care about. How do you know if they are healthy or not? This is how confusing our doctors and the model has made it for us, this is what we have been raised with. We don’t even know what the definition of health is

 

What do you think most peoples definitions of health would be?  They know their kids are healthy when they what, feel what? Feel Good. My kids feels good, then they are probably healthy, but can you really say that if God forbid the kid has a ten inch tumor in his chest and feels good. Have you guys ever known someone with cancer eating away at their body and not have a clue that it is there? Before my dad died I asked him if he had any symptoms or pain and he said no, I had no clue I had cancer. 
 
We all know people like that, same thing if you have 100 people developing heart disease over here, when do 90 of them know when they have it? When its too late, of that 90 they all had their first symptom, their first symptom was a heart attack. Of those 90, 2/3 of them die. So some of those, most of those people, their first symptom was death, wow, so should we wait until symptoms come about. So symptoms are a terrible way to know if you are healthy. 

How about if you exercise and eating right, does that mean you are healthy? Lets talk about Jim Ficks, he basically created jogging in the united states, do you think he was healthy. He was vegetarian or vegan, he was in shape. He was the modern day inventor of jogging in the united states.  What happened to him? He died at 52 of a massive heart attack. So is just eating right and exercising the definition of health? 
 
These things are certainly a component of health but not the definition of health. So whats the definition of health?  Its about function, if you look up the definition of health, Dorland’s medical dictionary, what it says, its 100% function of all your organs, cells and tissues regardless of symptoms. Notice that last part, regardless of symptoms, you guys hear that last part. Regardless of symptoms, your body needs to work at 100%, that means every tissue, down to the smallest cell needs to work at 100%. How do you measure that? It’s a hard thing to measure isn’t it? But there is one organ that control and coordinates every single function of your body. It’s your brain. The power that created your body, your brain, controls and coordinates all those cells.The only way to achieve 100% communication between your brain and body is corrective chiropractic care.

Action steps to understanding health

Living up to our God given potential really defines Maximized Living. We were all created in God’s image to honor and glorify Him. Through sin, not only do we turn away from God but we degrade and neglect our mind body and spirit.
1.      The first thing and most important aspect to maximized living a God centered life.
2.     The second aspect is taking care of the body that God has given to us, remember you were bought with a price and God doesn’t make junk.Maintaining our health is how God is glorified.
3.     A Pure Mind includes maintaining mental health by proper time and stress management.

 

Where the medical model teaches us that we can neglect our mind, body and spirit and even indulge in our sinful desires and turning away from glorifying him but become selfish by pleasing ourselves. We then poison our body in all aspects, when the body has done all it can to counteract our destruction,the medical model teaches us to use outside man-made methods such as drugs and surgeries to correct the damage.
Maximized Living teaches us to honor God by taking care of what He has given us and recognizing that God created us to heal from above down inside out.

  4. this is a great post – just led 4 round table discussions about this topic this weekend – called what is the true HEART of health? One thing suggested that was on every one of the lists I came up with is Getting stuff {emotional/psychological} out –
    we tend to focus so much on what we put in – it’s easy to forget that getting rid of baggage is just as important!
