Before you read this, please watch the video above. Mindset on your healthcare is just as important as the implementation of that healthcare. That is a reason why we look at the world different.
Some people's mindsets are focused on work, deadlines and erroneus time wasters that decrease the amount of time and quality of life that they have. Not that work is erroneous, but focusing on it when you should park you mind on your family can cause stress problems and those become health problems. We try to notice big things that are portrayed in little ways, such as the video. The post today is not necessarily to discuss the flu or vaccines. The point is to entertain the notion that there is more than one way to interpret ideas. While some may get energized and feel an urgency to rush for a flu shot so they don't get sick, I consider the fact that the commercial actually motivated someone to do that. Advertisers are geniuses at creating a desire to want something. The problem with this is that the decision isn't whether to buy a cheeseburger or chicken nuggets, it to make a healthcare decision that may or may not be in your best interest, depending on where you stand on healthcare philosophy, which we all have one. And if you say “I don't have a philosophy “ then that is your philosophy.
Back to the the commercial, Flu season is certainly upon us and the drug companies and pharmacies are taking advantage of the fear that some of you “actually” need a flu shot. In the commerical, the lady cruises around with a huge smile plopping vitamin D and hand sanitizer in her crate. “You don't need one” says the pharmacist as she gleefully states she hasn't made an appointment.
At the end of the commerical, the commentator says you can get a $5 gift card with a flu shot! This is a classic marketing idea, I give you money if you give me more money. Or, free because your insurance pays for it. Of course, if your insurance pays for it, then it isn't really free. And there is also the case of Medicare and Medicaid. With these two giants, we all pay for it through the taxes that we pay.
With that said, the purpose of the companies involved is to actually make a profit from giving the shots. Please remember, the shots aren't free. They are sold by the pharmaceutical company through the drug rep who makes money by selling them to the pharmacy, who makes money by selling them to the public. Which makes sense because these are often large corporations that need to make large amounts of money.
Remember, your mindset on healthcare, your ability to educate yourself enough to make your own decisions instead of having some doctor, which I am a doctor, tell you what to do is the key in your mission to live a long, healthy happy life. And just in case you like the first video, here is another to to get you fired up about your flu shot!!!
