All About Juicing

We’ve had a juice machine for over a year. We mainly got it so we could know what out two preschoolers where drinking. There are tons of bottled juices out there that say all natural or 100% juice, but are they really?

I haven’t made them juice in a while and honestly I am usually just a water gal who drinks coffee in the morning so I didn’t ever drink the juice I made them. Well, while I was visiting family in Arizona I went on a 5 day fruit & veggie fast last week. It went really well so I think I am going to start adding it to my weekly life.

Health Benefits of Juicing:

  • There is NO added sugar, sweetness occurs naturally
  • Your body soaks up all of the vitamins, minerals & nutrients because it’s so easy to digest
  • Helps cleanse your liver and rids your body of toxins
  • It’s easier than eating numerous whole fruits or veggies and you get the same or more benefits

Recipes:

You can just add about anything (which is what I did and I would recommend a better balance) so make it something that brightens your taste buds! Here are some ideas:

Carrot-Jicama-Parsley Juice
This juice is rich in calcium and phosphorus and will soothe upset stomachs and indigestion.
– 5-6 carrots
– 1 (1 inch) slice of Jicama
– Handful of parsley
Slice the jicama into 2-3 strips if you need to, in order to feed into the juicer. Juice the parsley with the jicama and carrots to extract the maximum juice.
3-4 carrots
1-2 stalk of celery
small wedge of cabbage
1 orange
1/2 mango
1 kiwi peeled
sparkling mineral water unflavored with sparkling water and serve.
Pour the juice in a large glass and fill to the top

Have you ever juiced?

    Blessings, ~Lisa

  8. Thanks for hosting! I posted a profile of mineral-rich and gluten-free quinoa and a review of a great kitchen gadget — the Apple Peel Corer Slicer

  9. I love the idea of a healthy linky!
I juice too and find it extremely energizing.
    I linked two reicpes:
jicama rainbow salad which is a delicious raw salad full of healthgiving vegetables, raw cashews, and raisins
and a healthy GF snack for kids- Banana Roll Ups
    Judee

  10. Vicky- The one in the pictures is my brothers, it was around $99, the one I have was around $50, both from Target. I would invest in the more expensive one, even the $99 if you can.

Lisa- The pumpkin spice muffins sound like something we would love! Adding a juicer to your birthday or christmas list would be a great idea!

Judee- juicing is so energizing! Glad you like the healthy linky!

  11. I’ve shared a couple of recipes for seasoning mixes, made from scratch. Thanks for hosting!

  12. Hey Rachel, we have juiced almost daily for around three months now, but my husband and I are actually in the middle of a juice fast/cleanse at the present moment. 🙂 We are on our fourth day, and it is definitely starting to get easier for us. (We’re going for 10 days! We’ll see though – my husband is starting to say, maybe only 7 😉 haha!)

All of your juices sound great. I’ll definitely have to try them. This Spicy V-12 juice from Heartland Renaissance is one of my favorite juices if your looking for some good veggie juice recipes. http://heartlandrenaissance.com/2011/05/spicy-v12-juice/

And thanks for hosting this link-up 🙂 I just discovered it today, and it looks great!

  13. My sil loves to juice stuff for breakfast. I haven’t tried it yet myself mostly because I don’t have the money for a juicer right now. I do try to get some veggies in our smoothies though the kids always spot the greens.

Today, I’m sharing a simple chicken casserole that is great for weeknights.

  14. I loooooove juicing! My last host in New Zealand had a Green Star juicer. Amazing! After doing some research, a Champion juicer is on the top of my wish list.
Thanks for sharing the juicing recipes. I know I’ll be trying those soon!
